DAILY INSPIRATION The Modern Hero's Journey The modern experience today is rife with intangible distractions that keep us from our true nature. We are constantly bombarded with sensory exposures that keeps our attention riveted to external circumstance and experience. Eyes front, we watch the world play as though it were the only option available and discount a much more palpable inner understanding. Chaos and confusion reign supreme and much of humanity suffers consistently as a result.
The modern Hero’s Journey is the answer to the challenges facing each and every one of us as we continue towards assured epic downfall of many of the antiquated institutions and systems in place today. Einsteins famous quote, often encapsulated in glossy imagery on social media discussions is so true. We cannot deny that we are in a “problem” state and yet, the majority keep applying the same thinking and merely gloss over the “pretty picture with words” and continue on the same not-so-merry way. It is the modern hero, who has begun to shift their thinking; and they have done so by recognizing the Hero’s Journey, that of introspection and cultivation of inner light and Love. Yoga for a better life…
Heroic, I have been asked… I’d say! It is not an easy task, ever, let alone in our modern society burgeoning with greed, fear-mongering, oppression, judgement and tremendous dissatisfaction to rip the tentacles of malfeasance from the very bowels of one’s existence. But it must be done! It will be humanity’s salvation. Those that have chosen to answer the call to action and begin the quest for something new are the Heroes of the Now, as they are on the road to bringing consciousness to humanity.
They are the ones who have decided that something must be different, first for and within themselves, then for the world. A modern-day adventure begins within the human experience, one

begins to see the world anew, as an epiphanic recognition of something forgotten so long ago begins to eclipse the horizon. There is a remembering… and then it’s forgotten again, but remembered… then forgotten. And the quest becomes to remember more than not, all the while distracted by the incessant external turmoil, ever-present and consistently threatening.
It is just as Joseph Campbell so eloquently synthesized in his life’s work and summarized in the Hero with a Thousand Faces,
A hero ventures forth from the world of common day into a region of supernatural wonder: fabulous forces are there encountered and a decisive victory is won: the hero comes back from this mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boons on his fellow man.
The Modern Hero, born from circumstance and of their own choosing have now embarked on the Journey of a Lifetime. Realizing eventually that what they are looking for isn’t “out there”, they begin to withdraw the senses and look within. It is here that the answers lie, protected by a vast network of subconsciousness filled with darkness and despair, demons and monsters, flying dragons and all sorts of guardians at the gate. It is here that the true “battle” is being waged and once won, the inner peace and tranquility comes.
And when it does…
Yoga begins…
Now.
Aho! Mitakuye Oyasin, All my relations I am grateful to walk this path with you.
